Our Aim
The Aromatherapy Store is dedicated to simplifying and taking the mystery and confusion out of the,sometimes bewildering, world of essential oils and aromatherapy. As an industry and an art, started within the simple realms of cottage and home remedies, we seek to make the oil’s benefits transparent and accessible to all. Whether youre an experienced Aromatherist, a Fully Qualified Massage Therapist, or just someone who is awake to the wonderful qualities of aromatherapy and the use of essential oils, we hope you’ll find what youre looking for here.
Organic or Not Organic?
We source our oils from small independent producers in India, China, South East Asia , Eastern Europe and the Southern Mediterranean region. Where possible we try to source from organic producers who farm and cultivate responsibly. However this isn’t always possible – and in particular this is true of producers and people working the land in deprived areas of India and China. These people are often cultivating plants in a small holding situations and as such cannot afford to dedicate their land to organic production. They often grow the plants for essential oils alongside vegetables and fruit for sale to the local markets, ans as such rely on local markets and buyers – and in a poor country their buyers cannot afford to pay a premium when they themselves are living on a hand to mouth basis. These people can see ‘organic produce’ as the luxury of more fortunate nations.
At The Aromatherapy Store, we as a company aim to work together with these independent producers, who fall below even the sonars of Fair Trade Industry organisers and establish mutually beneficial economic and business relationships and we’ll be featuring individual producers stories in the forthcoming months so you’ll get a chance to see who is benefiting from the commerce that happens here in the West!
