When one’s body grows too fast for the skin to accommodate, this results in the formation of stretch marks. These marks are naturally occurring scars as they result from the natural processes in the body, and not because of accidents. Periods in life when these often form are during puberty and pregnancy. These are the times in life when the body grows too rapidly so the skin is forced to stretch beyond its limit. Other examples are when people increase in weight abruptly, or weightlifters that increase in muscle mass very quickly. When the skin stretches over its limit, it will naturally tear and cause small bleedings to occur underneath the skin. These wounds will then cause the skin to temporarily halt collagen production. Because of this, new cells produced as the wounds heal are of a different color than that of your normal skin. These scars are what we then call as stretch marks. There are a lot of different ways of getting rid of stretch marks. One of the most effective is by undergoing laser treatment. This works by burning away the scar tissue so that it can be replaced by newer cells. This method requires one or a few sessions depending on how deep the scar is. Other expensive methods are dermabrasion and skin grafting. Dermabrasion involves sanding of the skin to remove scars, and skin grafting takes skin from other parts of your body to cover up the existing scar. Although these methods are expensive, these are quick fixes but cannot ensure the complete elimination of the scar. A cheaper way to get rid of scars is by using scar removal creams. These work by exfoliating the older skin cells and stimulate cell regeneration so that the old cells can be replaced by newer ones. Since collagen production has returned to normal, the new cells produced will have the same color to that of your normal skin. If you don’t want to use too much chemicals on your skin, then a better idea is to try massaging your scars to reduce its appearance. A special technique is required for you to effectively reduce the appearance of scars through massaging, but this is a good method to use as it is all natural and you won’t be exposing yourself to possibly harmful chemicals. Still, there are other home remedies that you can try to get rid of scars. You can try applying cocoa butter, aloe vera gel or Vitamin E creams on the affected area. These work by moisturizing and stimulating regeneration of cells. Applying ice and lemon juice are also methods that are widely used. Using these methods especially if you are pregnant are good ways to ensure the safety of your baby, as well as decrease the chances of developing stretch marks. Due to science and technology, there have been many ways developed on how to remove stretch marks. You can choose the more expensive methods and get rid of scars immediately, or choose the cheaper methods and be patient and watch these scars slowly fade away. Whatever method you choose, you can be sure that these blemishes will be gone if not almost invisible, and you will have that flawless skin that you have always wanted.
