So you went out and bought yourself an expensive skin lightening cream thinking that because it had a hefty price tag and came in a pretty box it would take care of that uneven skin tone and that dark patch on your forehead. And now you’ve got a case of dermatitis to deal with and your face is all raw and red and peeling. Apparently your skin lightening lotion is doing a lot more harm than good.  Just because it’s more expensive doesn’t mean it’s going to work. Take dermabrasion for instance. You could pay hundreds of dollars for a series of dermabrasion treatments and end up with even darker patches on your skin than you originally started with. That’s because dermabrasion often stimulates melanin production, the substance that produces the pigment in your cells. And just because it comes in a pretty package doesn’t mean it’s going to work either. Look at chemical peels for example. The technician at your salon probably gives you a pretty pink apron and makes sure you comfortable. Maybe they give you a glass of wine or a cup of tea. Your peel is all wrapped up in a pretty package, too, but when you leave the salon your face looks like someone tried to…well… peel it off! When shopping for a skin lightening cream, price and packaging should have nothing to do with your decision making. It’s the ingredients that you need to be concerned with. Some of those pretty, expensive lotions contain mercury and hydroquinone, two ingredients that can be painful and leave you with disfiguring scars if you’re not careful. Look for a lotion that contains safe, all natural ingredients.  And you’ll be able to show your face in public while you’re using it!
