Anti-aging through exercises for senior citizens
At this point in my life any mention of the subject of health and the body, quickly brings my mind to thoughts of severe joint pain. This is a subject that is giving me much cause for concern at this juncture in my life.Having made good use of my body for over 81 years, I’m now starting to feel the side effects of bouts of occasional abuse, particularly in my shoulders. In fact, in some ways I’m surprised that I’m still mobile and not wheeling myself around town in a wheelchair.What would we do without those wonderful doctors that have kindly spent their lives designing wonderful new replacement body parts for us? Though doctors are no help when aiming to fix a case of bad joint pain; much of the breakthroughs in treating troubled hinges come from physical therapists. To get started on my journey to recovered health and eternal youth, I went to the local gym, where I usually spend the start of every week. I get a kick out of being the only 81 year old person exercising in a sea of tight, well oiled young bodies. Most of us go through life unaware of how our bodies are put together. So recently a personal trainer friend of mine decided to try and explain these workings to me. I told her that I had been having problems with my shoulders and she begun with a long explanation of what was causing my discomfort. Thankfully, she was kind enough to use a plastic model of a shoulder in an attempt to keep things simple for me. In a few words she explained that I needed to strengthen my shoulder and all would be good again.
So in an effort to get things moving in the right direction I was dragged to the local gym for a short weight training session. We picked out a range of different weights, I went for a comfortable three pounds, my excuse at such a pathetic number was that I had an injury and could possibly hurt my self. This poor excuse to back out of this painful cure back fired and my personal trainer begins to increase the pace and speed of my special set of joint strengthening exercise. Strangely my mood begins to change, as I’m sitting down nursing my sore arms. I notice that everybody seems to be overly happy and positive about the activity they are involved in. Their good vibes are quickly passed on to me and I suddenly feel a surge of endurance.When I first entered into this testosterone filled world, I did so with a large amount of scepticism regarding the kinds of people that visit gyms on a daily basis. I expected it to be more for pumped sporty types or overly intense business people. It actually turns out that anyone can get involved. There is even a sudden interest from the elderly who have formed exercise groups of their own. There have actually been studies done that show exercise to be a great anti aging tool. A well-known researcher, Dr. Evans, is reported to have said that they can now make a 95-year-old person feel as strong as a 50 year old. What could I possibly do with all that energy?
